Out of your league?

"Yo, son look at her she's gorgeous" - Guy A
"Yeah, She's well put together, but she's out of your league" - Guy B

What the hell does this mean? Is it implying that someone is better than you or are you that terrible in your life your not good enough to grace the other person's presence. Personally we're all one wrong decision from jail, one call out from unemployment, one missed mortgage or rent payment from being homeless, so in all actuality what makes me > you? I feel I have a lot going for myself but I can't ever say that someone is out of my league. It's funny because in life we pump ourselves up so much that we actually feel that we are better than someone else, almost like a walking contradicting, people are quick to preach equality but throw the next person down. I like to think that I haven't been hurt that many times in my life , but I would be devastated and eternally scarred if someone told me that I wasn't in her league. Basically like staying step your game up, but in that instance if I get a bigger car, house, fancier clothes and all that means you don't really want me for my personality, but for my material possessions, which leads me back to the question is anybody ever really with anybody for the person inside or what they bring to the table and can do for you?

These are questions that have bothered me for a while, any help greatly appreciated.

I don't think anyone can be out of someone else's league. Superficially, they can..but once you look past that, that person that seems so "high & mighty" is just like anyone else.

Now if someone's out of your league in terms of personality & you have a crappy attitude, then it's different.

As for your question, I think that people are ultimately with people for their personalities. At least, I'd hope so. A person's character lasts longer than a material possession.

I dont think anyone can be out of someones league. Look wise maybe, personality wise, no. I feel life has taught to judge by looks first. Some days I feel the man I like is out of my league because he actually has a career. People end up with people because of the insides not outsides. If its the outside you like the most, then you need to re0think your morals, get me?

I hate that line like you do. Great post J.O!

I'm going to disagree with Luxe & Stef .. Someone can be out of your league .. In a sense of education & Finance .. A person with a rather extended education i.e; college graduate Masters, Ph.D etc .. Is always going to feel 10 times ahead of someone who unfortunately hadn't graduated college or even high school .. In terms of being financially out of someones league .. I wouldn't date someone without a job .. Or someone whose not financially stable or financially equivalent to me .. But this doesn't make me shallow or a gold digger .. It's more or less just having a standard .. But then again .. This world is set up like a fuckin caste system or some shit .. People really think they live at the top of the pyramid .. Some people really believe they're the bourgeoisie and others are the proletariat .. S.M.H

I uesd to believe that people were out of my league when I was in high school and I passed up this guy who I would have probably been married to and had beautiful kids with and lived happily everafter with...because of that stupid shit. He came from wealth...I cam from a "normal" family that was just getting by. To this day he doesn't believe me when I tell him that's why I didn't date him.

Now that I am older I understand that as long as you tell yourself that others are better than you, they will be. At this point in my life, nothing is out of my league...I just might not have attained it yet or I really don't want it :)

no one's outta my league.

Honestly, i believe you should have the mindset that you're as good as the next person or even better @ what ya'll do. A strong self confidence if you may...

I mke it a point not to shit on no one because you NEVER know where you're gonna wind up. Now I've had ppl say funnystyle stuff to me and I could really wreck their lives if I wanted to but it is what it is.

We all bleed red so....

i also agree people are not out of someone's league.
If it comes to success or status that only makes a difference if the person or persons make's it that way.
No one is out of anyone's league point blank period

Assertive: Sorry to hear that, I had a similar situation.
